Case XX Knife Pattern Elephant's Toenail

The Elephant's Toe (50) is a massive equal end knife that measures 4 1/2? - 4 3/4? closed. It is a vintage pattern with a larger-than-life size. Characterized by a large Spear master blade, the Case family has produced this pattern since they started in the cutlery business. Case Brothers Cutlery, C. Platts' Sons Cutlery, and W.R. Case & Sons used this gigantic pattern as an eye-catcher in their advertisements. The Elephant's Toe remained in the Case line until the 1980's, when the pattern was retired, and then re-introduced in 2000. Other names that have been tagged on this pattern are Sunfish, Old English Rope Knife, Red Eye, Pumpkin Seed, Camp Knife, Old Honesty, Oyster Shucker, Jumbo, Old Faithful, or Vest-pocket Axe.
