As 2009 comes to a close, we pause for a bit to take a look back at happy memories shared
by those who were able to come join in the fun at the Shepherd Hills Collectors Club Party, 2009.
There’s no way to share all the details of the party, but we did want to try to capture the
good time that was had by those who participated—you’ll see evidence of that in the photos!
Highlights included:
- Silent Auction of Case XX Knives…
With a wide variety of unique and limited edition Case XX, this was a fun way to have a chance to pick up some neat additions to your collection.
- Knife Drop…
You can tell from the looks on the faces in the photos, this is one of the best loved parts of the SHCC Party each year. You buy a “grab bag” knife to enter the game, and then during the “trading” time trade to see if you can improve your lot. Greg Stark, the SHCC director, always puts a bit of a twist at the end. This year, those holding a Yellow Synthetic Trapper at the end of the game were given ONE MORE chance to trade. Of the three yellow trappers in the game, two very lucky participants chose to trade one more time. They received a Pearl Damascus Trapper in the trade. One fella, regrettably had already left for the evening.
- Special Presentation to Jim Sargent…
The Northern Mississippi Knife Collectors made a special presentation of a Lifetime Membership to Jim Sargent in recognition of all that he has done throughout the years to support their knife club.
- Opportunity to Meet Tom Arrowsmith
SHCC members had a relaxed, casual atmosphere in which to exchange ideas, stories, and even get an autograph from Tom Arrowsmith, President of W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery.
- “Tell Us About the Case XX That Means The Most to You”…
Professional photographers were on hand to get portraits of Case Collectors who wanted to share the story of the Case XX that meant the most to them. If Collectors had the actual Case knife with them, a photo was taken of the Case XX as well. Many collectors took advantage of this special opportunity, and now await to see where those photos and stories may appear…either in the next Case catalog or the Case website. Stay tuned for more info later on that !
- Special Remembrance of Shine Jessup
Shine Jessup, a Case XX Legend, and arguably the “Father of Pocketknife Collecting”, meant so much to so many involved with Case and Case collecting. We wanted to honor him for his contributions and impact on the knife industry, as well as acknowledge how much he will be missed. We appreciated Maury Ford’s willingness to share and remember Shine in this special way.
- And then there was the grand buffet, the great Bluegrass music, and the beautiful sound of
laughter and sharing among friends who share the same passion…collecting Case Knives.
